Simulate curved display

Is there a way to make my monitor look curved through software? I have a large wide screen flat monitor, and wouldn't mind losing a little bit of the screen by making the desktop appear "squished" in in the middle. I have done searching but have yet to come across a program that would do this.

Nothing that I'm aware of does this, but, I have to ask WHY you'd want to do this? What benefit is there to be had from faking it?
