Simulations and Gaming PC - Mid Range

Hello, I am putting together a PC build after a long time (almost 12 years). This will replace my 6+ year old MacPro. Primary use for this is to run experimental simulations for work, some pet projects and gaming. I have flexible budget and will add SSD, more memory, and probably another 680 in SLI as/if needed in the future. For now, I would like to limit spending to £1000-£1200. And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: MacPros seems to be overkill now, also poor gaming support on Mac.
