Comments: Mostly concerned with Microsoft Flight Simulator or Flight Simulators performance. Currently maxed graphic settings in MSFS2020 and XP11 are in the 20s/30 at 2k, when trying 4k with NVidia configuration 4x, it's a slideshow.

  1. Performance wise, would I see a huge upgrade?
  2. Would I be better off installing a RTX3090 and an i9-10980xe on my current build?

Yeah you'd see a nice improvement. I run a 10900k with 3090 and in 4K on max ultra settings in FS2020 my average framerate is around 40... little less here, little more there... really just depends on where you are flying. If you are flying over Manhattan your fps will be lower than if you are flying over South Dakota. Obviously turning down settings a bit would get you closer to 60 fps but this is a flight sim not Call of Duty so 30 fps is perfectly fine.

I wouldn't buy from Alienware though, I'd build one myself. If you are buying a prebuilt for the included GPU I understand though. Upgrading your current system is another option... I wouldn't spend extra on a 10980xe either... going with the 10900k would be better IMO especially with the upcoming price drops after 11th gen is released.

Really just depends on your budget but yes... MSFS2020 demands solid hardware. Anything less and you'll be disappointed. Also, if you haven't already I'd pick up the latest VR headset. It takes flight simming to a whole new level. I use the Reverb G2 headset.
