Simultaneous Streaming and Recording w/ Quick Sync and Shadowplay

I'd like to know if this is possible. If so, it's going to save my friend about $100 on his next build

If it's possible, he can just get a non-k 4670 and a 212 Evo instead of a 4670k and a H100i.

shadowplay is supposed to work like fraps without a performance hit. quick sync is also supposed to perform well without as much performance hit. i would go with shadow play though

and if he doesnt want to overclock he should go with the non k designator processor(or whichevers cheaper) and he can run with a stock cooler
the evo will get him cooler temps but nothing should be high as it is not going to be over clocked. the only difference between the 2 is the k can overclock the non k cant

If they cant be used simultaneously, he's just gonna OC his 4670k so he doesnt take much of a performance hit. He's only getting a 750ti for his build. He wants to be able to record while he streams using only shadow play and quick sync.

that would take a major hit on a cpu that doesnt hyperthread. go with a 4770 it would be more ideal for this situation

If I understand correctly, using shadowplay takes load off of the GPU and quick sync drops CPU usage like crazy during streams. I've seen reports of shadowplay only dropping FPS by 5-10, and quick sync uses the integrated graphics for all of the encoding. The only CPU usage he'd have would be split between xsplit, the game itself, iTunes, and the twitch dashboard. I think he uses Firefox.

I tried to tell him that. Im putting an 8320 in my next build, but the only thing he knows is Intel.

thats still alot of threads for a i5 to compute and having the igpu going will drop your voltage to your actual cpu cores so it drops the speed of each core while processing.

yea if he only has the budget for a i5 then he should go for the 8320 and overclock it. if he wants to shell out the money for the i7 he would get better performance but its a pretty big price jump if he is on a budget and i wouldnt reccomend the i5 for this particular situation you def need a cpu that can handle a lot of threads

THAT'S what I'm trying to get him to understand. He already has a Builder Series 430. I told him that since he's getting the 750ti, he'd still have plenty of overhead for an AMD OC that will give him similar performance to the Intel. It's like preaching to the choir when you're trying to talk to someone that's used Intel-based PCs and laptops for the past 10yrs.

He's a strong believer in "you get what you pay for." His house wreaks of overkill appliances for what they're used for lol.

This is his first custom build and he has me doing all of the work for him. Go figure.

He "can" spend the money, but he doesnt want to put a lot into the system right off the bat. Which is understandable.
