Upgraded from my AMD FX-4300 to a AMD FX-8350. Since then, all my games have randomly dropped frames to about 15-20 from 35-50. The problem isn't my gpu, i used it on my other build.

I think I've found your problem.

That motherboard doesn't officially support the FX 8350. It supports all the way up to the FX 8320, but not the FX...

Having a hard time figuring out which that is. Looks like it could be an MSI 970A-G43, G45 or G46.

Any chance you could open up the case and have a look which model number is printed on the motherboard?

I'm guessing you need a BIOS update but it's hard to recommend when I don't know the exact model of motherboard. Other than that, I'd guess it you could do a CMOS reset (would happen with a BIOS update anyway) or then it could be temperature related.

You're right. it's a 970A-G43.

That motherboard doesn't officially support the FX 8350. It supports all the way up to the FX 8320, but not the FX 8350. So you have a few choices. Return the 8350 and get something lower, or upgrade the motherboard to something that can handle the 8350. In most games you won't see a difference between an 8350 and 4300, just as an FYI.

Here's the link for all of the CPUs that motherboard supports: http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/970AG43.html#/?div=CPUSupport
