Well, I haven't played a barb much, so I don't know the twists for
skills.. Warcries for sure , but which ones. I've seen a high lvl
barb that says hes not a melee character. He does a lot of shouting
and appears to not have large swords or uses Whirlwind. He's also a
MFer, which would mean find item (?).

Which merc might be the most useful?

The guides I've seen were for 1.09 softcore, so this needs to be a
different approach, i think.

So, what sort of suggestions can the group come ou with.

Thanks.

Personally, I'd go for a Might merc, so he could kill everything once you
enter Hell :)
As far as skills:
I put 5 each in Howl and Taunt first, for archers and when you get swarmed.
Max BO
Max Warcry You'll have to be splitting points between these 2, I would get
BO up to 10 or so, then max Warcry and go back to BO later.
Split points between BattleCry, Taunt and Howl. BattleCry will help your
Merc against bosses, since it lowers their def and their damage. Taunt does
too, so I'd have Taunt and BC a bit higher than Howl.
1 point in Leap Attack, Increased Speed, Natural Resistance, Find Item.
Some people use Grim Ward, I never got good at it.

Or, you could get by without BO, and max WC and all the Synergies, if you
want to maximize the damage. Keep in mind that even with all synergies max,
at lvl 32 Warcry only does ~1200 damage and costs 41 Mana.

You could also load up on +Warcry skills: +3 Hat, +3 Ammy, +1 Armor, and +3
on each weapon is 13.

At 97 points you could max WC/BC/Taunt/Howl, have 7 points in BO (and it is
still lvl 20 with +skills), and have one each in Leap Attack, Find Item, NR
etc.

You'll also have to keep your merc at or above the monsters level, since
he'll be doing most of the killing later on. I suggest getting him as much
Leech and Crushing blow as he can hold.

I made one of these in 1.09 and he was tons of fun.

short - good luck though, I'm not brave enough to do that in 1.10.

My Singer (well, if he makes it that far)...

20 BO
20 WC
20 Howl
Prereqs
1 in NR, Mace Mastery, Zerk (and prereqs), Leap, stamine, speed
Rest in Battlecry.

That should get you to about lvl 70.

I use a Ribcracker on switch with Zerk (with Howl maxed) for PIs and
other high life monsters. Make sure you Battlecry them first cos you
will have low AR.

+skills are important but so is FCR. Try to get to at least 63. 105
would be better.

You will probably have some problems with Mana, level 30 wc costs 39
mana and does about 800 dmg with 2 synergies maxed. So, try to wear
+mana gear like frostburns, glooms etc. An Insight wielding merc would
probably help too.

Good Luck with it.
