I found a BFG GTX285 OC video card on clearance for $175. I have two 8800GT's in SLI in a Dell XPS630. Is the single GTX285 going to give me a boost in performance that's worth $175 over the 8800GT's or should I get my money back?

Thanks!

Yeah, I would replace 8800GT's in SLI with a single 285GTX.
I believe your Dell has a Q6600?
If you overclocked your processor, you would see a big, big jump.
Your Dell should have that ESA implementation so you can overclock the CPU through your nVidia software. Not sure how it works, or if you have tried it or not.
But with that new video card, if you have not tried to overclock that CPU, you should experiment a little.

Yes you will have a performance boost. What is the monitor size?

Samsung SyncMaster2233BW.

Sorry about the mutiple posts everyone! The system kept telling me that the forum was unavailable.

Thanks!

I'd get a GTX 285. 2 8800gt equal to about a GTX 260.

P.S. Were did you find that deal? Im making a new build but on a tight budget.

The card was on clearance at Bestbuy. The first time that I saw it it was $210. Based on what I read on Tom's I was willing to pass at that price. Checked again on Sunday and it had dropped to $175. I couldn't pass it up but still wanted some input before I installed it. Money is tight so I wanted to be sure before I did the impulse buy thing with the associated buyers remorse!
