Single channel ram or dual channel ram

Hello, i will upgrade my laptop's RAM for 8 GB i have already 4 GB in my laptop so i will have a total of 12 RAM. So, i have asked question yesterday that it will do only SINGLE CHANNEL MODE. but i'm playing Assassin's creed Unity i have 35-45 FPS but i have stuttering so i need to upgrade RAM because for now i have only 4 GB. What is the benefit of Dual channel mode? Can i still use Single channel mode?. because i have a tight budget for now.

Does Dual channel mode increase fps in games?

My laptop has only 2 RAM slots and DDR4 memory
