So, i bought 1 16gb ram ddr4 and later found out that 2 8gbs ram sticks would be a huge differnce in fps. i feel like i am loosing my mind shoul i return it?

If you can, yes return it. You are only providing 1/2 the memory bandwidth the manufacturer designed into your CPU with a single DIMM.

it will help, but then 2 16 gigs is better than 2 8 gigs (not as in faster just gonna have more free), you might see 10-25% increase going dual channel, sometimes alot more
