Hi,

Ive recently installed a new graphics card, and all of a sudden my cpu has started to overheat during games, i use coretemp as a monitor and set it to shutdown after 20 seconds above a certain temprature. currently the case seems to be that everythings cool, im not running a game thats too taxings (dark souls 2 today also had it happen during the walking dead) shuts down the game stating that core 4 for example is overheating then in turn shutting down the pc.

I checked the logs after booting again shown that one single core had apparently hit 208c now this is frighteningly high but there was no build up to this it was just a straight jump from 27c to 208c anyone got any clue whats gone down here?
also side of tower wasnt on pc at the time as this isnt the first time that this has happened
gpu faces downwards on this board so blows away from cpu

right specs

ASUS M5A78L-M
fx 6300 @3.5 (cooler arctic freezer 13)
8gb ram
gpu sapphire r9270x dual (upgraded from r7 250x)
psu 750w alpine

thanks

sean

i have obtained that and im now just taking a break from coretemp and having it running as is, I realise if cpu is too hot, the pc will shut down on its own anyway. its strange... It happened again last night not even in game, but look at the logs and the temps just jump from 17c to 117c with no climb still just a straight spike, I've tried prime95 ran it for 20 minutes and didn't go above 36c so i know its not that I've now rolled back to the previous card in it to see if the issue lies there
