Single cpu but different cpu name and specification..

The problem is, I upgrade my cpu core 2 duo to core 2 quad q9400. In the device manager I can see all 4 physical cores. But In the CPU-Z It shows that the q9400 has 2 physical cores. And the most weird part is In the Core Temp app processor name is different.. So what is the actual problem and and which side should I believe? I can't understand what is going on into my pc.
So my all tech expert brothers, I need the explanation.

First thing to do is to run "msconfig" then click on startup, then advanced and make sure "Number of processors" is unchecked.

Processor name - core 2 duo E7-100 ( wolfdale-3m).

So why my device manager, cpuZ, core temp shows different cpu config.. What is the root cause of this weird problem?

maybe because you are using an old version not latest which is 1.77. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
& 1.2 http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/Core-Temp-setup.exe
I'm running the q9450 version cpu. & both of these programs shows the correct cpu.

I agree with ffg7. Also as long as windows device manager shows the right CPU, and CPU-Z which IMO is a more robust program I wouldn't worry about what core temp says.
