single GTX980: 2 Monitors?

I have a pc with an intel i7 4790k, a gigabyte G1.Sniper z97 motherboard, 16Gbs 1866ram, and a SINGLE nvidia geforce GTX 980 graphics card.

I want to add a second monitor( 1080p) to my computer so i can play games on one and stream videos, surf web, etc. on the other. Can the 980 still provide exceptional gaming while handling HD video streaming ??

ps: My current monitor (22 inch) is connected with a hdmi cable)

Yes, it can. Easily. The second monitor will not even impact your FPS at all.

You should have no problem streaming and playing a game on ultra on the other monitor. Have fun gaming!

Yep, with ease, unless you game on both the monitors (surround), the performance won't be affected. Surfing/ streaming videos are not intensive for GPU, it'd handle the setup with ease

Since the monitor will be for streaming videos and other general purpose tasks, and not gaming, this would be fine:

Monitor: AOC e2351F 60Hz 23.0" Monitor ($119.99 @ Micro Center)

Or this for IPS panel:

Monitor: LG 22MP55HQ-P 60Hz 22.0" Monitor ($121.50 @ Newegg)

If you were to game, I'd look at lower response rates and higher refreshes, though GPUs seldom go over 60 FPS in surround. Well, a dual monitor surround will definately affect performance, from comfortable 60+ FPS on ultra to fine 50+ FPS on high, IMO.

2 monitors can not be used for surround.

Think of where the cursor would be for example when playing a first person shooter.

No problem. And yes, its actually 1, 3, 5, 7 for Nvidia surround.
And interestingly 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and more for AMD Eyefinity.
