I know that its better to use 2 slots of ram on a pc, because performance is better,no doubd.
But i am planning to build a new pc and for economical reasons, because ddr5 ram are very expensive, i was thing to use one slot on the new pc, with 16gb ram, and add another one of 16gb later, maybe after a year.
I am not a gamer, only office work and a lot of internet work, that i need max speed.
Do you you thing it will be so much problem of using one slot ? The perfromance will be so low and laggy ?

Solution
I’ve not seen benchmarks of single channel vs dual channel DDR5 but on DDR4 the performance difference could be anywhere be 0-30% depending on the workload.

RAM should be bought in matched kits, there is no guarantee that adding RAM later will work without issues. Well this was true of DDR3 & DDR4 and I cannot see why DDR5 would be less susceptible to issues. See the odd man out section here https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq...y-ram-and-xmp-profile-configurations.3398926/
