so i have an asus rampage iv black edition and 1x8 corsair vengeance 1600mhz stick. the motherboard is quad-channel and configurations show 1,1 2,2 3,3 4,4. im having issues running the pc, is this because i onlyhave one ram stick? do i need two? or more?

Solution
Yes that could be the problem since if your motherboard is quad-channel than for the best performance you have to use all channels but if you add another stick it will run in dual-channel it should work fine

Solution
Read your motherboard manual.
It should tell you where to insert the ram if you only have one stick.
Sometimes, it is not in the obvious slot.

Another possibility is that the bios might need an update. Ram issues are often the target of such updates.

Run memtest86+ for a couple of full passes to check out your ram. You should get NO errors.
