Single Titan X vs GTX 980 Ti 2-Way SLI

Well price wise the GTX 980Tis are way better and for gaming are better performance by far. Most games do support SLI, very few do not. SOme have initial issues with SLI but once sorted work pretty well.

One question, are you planning to game at 1080P, 1440P or 4K?

1080P = GTX 980
1440P = GTX 980Ti
2160P (4K) = GTX 980Ti SLI

That must be the millionaire's list. Ramp each one down a step and I agree (for today's games):
1080P = GTX 970
1440P = GTX 980
2160P (4K) = GTX 980Ti

Depends on what you consider playable. If you want 60FPS most games need more than a GTX 980Ti.

So performance-wise the 980 Ti SLI's out-perform the single Titan X right?

Don't forget the OP's question. If he is looking at the Titan X or 980 TI SLI, then he is looking for high performance and has the money for it.

Well yeah the sli 980ti is a far faster option, night and day even. The ram usage for 4k does not appear to be exceeding 6GB at all except in the most extreme situations.

The 980ti has half the memory but 92% of the shadder count. SLI 980ti would have 84% more shadders than a titan x and with dx 12 possibly the same amount of memory.

And for the price two GTX 980 Tis would eat the GTX Titan X up. The performance difference between even a single Titan X and GTX 980Ti is laughable considering the price difference.

Plus I trust those reviews more than someone on YouTube.

Well considering the video I linked is a credible source, who cites his benchmarking setup, and even gives a live performance review on BF4 and other games, I'd say it's more reliable than something someone typed into a website.

Your "credible" source is outdated at the least. At the time of that review, the 980ti had not been released.

Just because it was released before the 980TI released doesn't make it outdated, it's still the most recent Titan series card, and he's not comparing the Titan X to the 980TI, just benchmarking the Titan X

While it is the best Titan for gaming, it is not as good as the original for double precision floating point calculations, so it is only better than the Titan for gaming.

However, we are talking about Titan X vs 980 TI SLI. The Titan X is not better than many of the aftermarket 980 TI's alone, much less in SLI.

You are saying that some guy on YouTube who is newer is more reliable than a tech website that had been around and doing reviews for almost 20 years? From a site that has been around since before YouTube?

And instead you trust a guy who has been posting reviews on YouTube for 2 years?

Well I guess I am done here. I posted relevant information so I am pretty good to go.

I am using the 980 ti g1 gaming from gigabyte at stock clockspeed and when i play the witcher 3 i usually get around 35 frames with everything completely maxed out including AA and hairworks, so i you are fine with that you dont need two 980's or a titan x just get a 980 ti.

if you are not happy with 35 fps, turn down aa and hairworks and you are looking at a solid 40-45, you could aslo just overclock it to 1400-1500mhz

btw this is on 4096x2160, not 3840x2160, so normal 4k has even better performance
