hey guys & gals,
looking to begin streaming in the near couple months but have a few questions first, any and all suggestions are appriciated! im going to list in detail the single pc build im considering and what my intentions are below;

aerocool p7-c1 case
intel i7-8700k (w/ 10% oc) processor
gigabyte z370 aorus gaming 5 motherboard
16gb ddr4-2800 corsair vengeance lpx ram
nvidia geforce gtx1080 8gb gddr5 gpu
800w 80+ psu
250gb wd blue ssd
3tb 7200rpm hdd
creative sound blaster audigy rx 7.1 channel sound card
intel pro 10/100/1000 network card
windows 10 home 64bit o.s.
arctic silver thermal paste
1440p 144hz 1ms monitor

would the i7-8700k (6 core, 12 thread) processor handle gaming and streaming at the same time comfortably one a single pc (1080p60)? i would like to go single pc route if possible.. not only does running dual systems cost more but ive read multiple times that there are more complications with sound and video transfering.

once again, any suggestions and/or experience is appriciated, thanks for reading and your time!

Dual system is always going to be the best. Always. Simply because you're offloading ALL streaming to the 2nd PC. However, of course, there's always the issue of complexity as you said already.

The 8700K with an overclock should be able to run 1080P 60fps game streams just fine. Though get at least 32GB of memory as said above. Intel doesn't need super high speed memory either, so if you have to back off to 2666mhz that's fine.

FYI, if you setup your streaming properly, a single PC can get just as good of quality as a dual system, however you'll take a performance hit frame rate wise.

I should also add, there is a 3rd option which is kind of inbetween a 2nd PC and single system. That is, just put a dedicated capture card in your...

thanks, both of you. yes, I forgot to add the cpu cooler and capture card in my posted build sheet. I planned to go with an internal hd60pro.

also, for a stream & game setup id be running dual/multi-monitors. would everything I had plan to do & the multi-monitor setup be to strenuous?

thanks for the fast replies.

I have a I7 7700k, with 16GB 2666Mhz, and a GTX 1080.
I tried to stream in 720p 60fps, but I have "missed frames du rendering lag", so I was streaming in 720p 30fps, but I still have missed frames, because my GPU is overloaded, even if I limit my fps to 60fps (In normal I set it to 144 because I have a 144hz monitor), but in some games my graphic card is overlaoded... But on the other games I'm not playing always at 144fps, rare moments where my PC holds the 144fps I am often below!

I don't understand, OBS need GPU for rendering EVEN IF I STREAM WITH MY CPU ! (frames missed, and encoding lag is not the same !)

Si I'll try to set a other PC for streaming, but I'm sad because I was thinking my GTX 1080 was enouth for this

I'll derail this thread for now, but if you want to reply again, make sure to create another thread regarding your issue so we can talk there.

x264 streaming is entirely based on your CPU, not your GPU. your GPU is not being overloaded, it's your CPU that is having a harder time dealing with the load. You should be able to stream 720P 60fps x264 on a 7700K tho, unless your running a very demanding game.

Hey man I was wondering if you figured out your problem because I'm having the same issue and I have a 1070Ti and I can't figure out the life of me what's the problem...
