looking to buy ram for my new build but it's out of stock on amazon however they have single 8b kits that i could just buy 2 of for cheaper im not sure if dual kits are designed to work together and give better performance than just buying single sticks?

also just seen a single stick of patriot viper steel series ram is cheaper, reviews seem to suggest the timings are not what they advertise can anyone confirm this/used this ram before?

What system specs?

Dual channel doubles the bandwidth and two working together is faster.

Kits are sold because they're tested to work together. Buying singles run the risk of compatibility between them. May work / may not.

If the vipers are out of stock why not look for a different brand like Gskill or Corsair?
