The older USB 2.0 gigabit ethernet adapters were slooooooowwwwwwww.
Even the USB 2.0 100Mb ethernet adapters were much slower than PCI cards.
If someone gets this, they need to benchmark it...

I literally have one of these from airlink laying on the ground in the garage somewhere.
It would constantly crash my computer.
I only used it to download drivers for the integrated LAN after I formatted and re-installed windows.. That was when I didn't know to just save the damn drivers on the hard drive, lol..

I don't see any need for a USB lan adapter for anything...
