Hi,

As this monitor will be mainly for browsing, document editing, homework,, photos and just light gaming - image quality is a priority. So I should go with IPS then.

But what are resolution recommendations for 24" monitor?
Do I understand correctly that at 24" full hd is more than enough? At what size higher resolutions are needed?

I see almost none 24" IPS panels with FreeSync. A bit more with TN but not many as well. So if I go for a 24" I'm basically stuck with a very basic 60Hz monitor. Right?

Those recommendations kinda depend on your vision. With age - vision gets worse.
If you're in your 20-ties, with perfect vision, then even 1080p 22" would be fine.

If you're in your 40-ties, probably using glasses, then
skip 24" altogether,
1080p - 27",
1440p - 32".
