Sketchy Chinese Zotac GTX1060 3GB

i was browsing for a used Gtx1060 3gb.. till i came across this super cheap Gtx 1060 3gb.. it was packaged in a chinese printed zotac box... asked the seller why it was in chinese and the seller said the local gpu store was out of stock, so he bought it on "TaoBao"... i dont know if this is fake or not but i havent bought it yet.. still skeptical about it... here is some pic of the gpu itself:

Zotac don't make a card that looks anythinglime that.

There also aren't any 3gb 1060a as far as I know that require an 8 pin power connector .

Those photos sclearly show an 8 pin connector.

No pic of the backplate there, If you can get a picture of that I wouldn't be surprised to see a vga port - which no 10** series gpu will ever have.

this one looks more simillar to the one in the pictures he sent me.. apparantly its a Zotac GTX 1060 3GB Galaxy HA Edition? is it a Zotac China Product only? maybe it doesnt ship to other western countries? i live in asia so its hard to determine...

I tracked a circuit board grab down from a legitimate source for that Chinese model card.

It is 100% identical to the one in your first post.

so this is a legit gtx 1060? im afraid it could be one of those gpu where it tricks your pc into thinking its a gtx 1060 but it actually uses and older card..

With out looking too much into it, different countries often get specific products created for its region. For instance, China has a 1060 5gb version. I think it's legit.

That's a legitimate Chinese model 960 too.

There are subtle differences there too.

The 960 has a twin 6 pin power setup, & 7 phase vrm .
The 1060 has a 8 pin power setup & 8 phase vrm .

The pictures you posted & the first picture I posted are a 1060.
That's a fact.

You need to ascertain those at actual photos of the card he is selling.

I'd also ask for a photo of the rear backplate of the card with a piece of,paper,on show,with his seller name on it.

The giveaway will be the dvi ports on the back .

On a 1060 the analog pins will be missing because these cards have no onboard dac.

The dash one side with 2 pins above & 2 below ??

The 1060 will have that centre dash but none of the pins,above or below it.

So it will look either of the dvi-d only diagrams (I would expect the dual link with all pins connected in the main block)

Pretty sure this is a scam. That looks like a much older card. I can't say specifically which one. Several things wrong: 1st, it appears to be missing the plastic cover. But, it doesn't look like it was removed, so I doubt the card is actually a 1060.
2nd, You don't show an image of the back plate. A 1060 will have a DVI port, at least one HDMI port, and probably a Display Port.
3rd, it looks kind of small.
It may very well be a Zotac graphics card, as Zotac is a legit company, but I doubt that it is the advertised GTX 1060.

Zotac is a legit company that sells here in the US. If you are lucky to have one: Microcenter carries them in the US.

Download gpu-z at their web site, https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/and type the bios version you receive from the website into google search and it will tell you if the gpu is authentic gtx 1060.

Word of advice from a Pro: Try and avoid (if possible) buying used video cards. There's been recently a high activity of used video cards selling from China that don't run at the specs indicated. Try and also avoid GPU's selling/sold/shipped from China at all costs if you can (unless you trust the seller 100%), especially if the price is too good to be true. Chinese companies have been re-flashing old cards and selling them as current cards by modifying the firmware settings. So a GTX 960 will display as a 1070GTX or whatever. When you plug it in, sure it will say GTX 1080 with 8GB of GDRAM, however you'll probably be running a GTX 660 with only 2 GB (just as an example).

This is not new and has been happening for a while now peeps. Go to youtube and search for "Fake Chinese Video Cards" and you'll get a better understanding. Better yet, search eBay and look for cards shipping from China. Amazing how you can get a GTX1080 at $120.

Seriously though, don't do it. You can potentially be getting a card that has been modified, in which can potentially damage your system. Save yourself the headache and buy from reputable retail stores or if you are buying used, make sure its coming from a trusted online seller. Hope this helps.

Judging from the printed Chinese characters on the back of the card, even if it IS a gtx 1060, it is built for cryptocurrency mining. And if it is super cheap, it may be a card that has been used to mine cryptocurrency. My advice would be a no-go.
