[Skill] Concentration for monks

How about a situation like: you have to walk across a narrow ledge,
carrying something heavy (an unconscious party member, or the
adventure's McGuffin), and folks are shooting arrows at you from
far below.

I would require some sort of concentration / balance combination in order
to avoid falling if you got hit...

In the 5 years since 3E's release, I think I've seen two Balance checks
rolled.

You're free to house-rule it so, but that's already covered by the rules
for balance: you're flatfooted unless you have 5+ ranks in balance, you
have to make another balance check whenever you get hit &c.

By the book, concentration doesn't help you at all in such a situation.

Not just limited to Monks, but it made me think that maybe a Concentration check
as a possible always situational bonus check? Monks have the history of marital
philosophy, unifiying mind and body.
