Question Sky+HD hard drive not appearing

Hi all,
I have a 500Gb sata hard drive I remvoed from a sky+HD box. On ubuntu and macOS the drive doesn't appear?

Assuming this information is still correct, Sky+ HD boxes use a weird formatting on their hard drives - https://www.techradar.com/news/television/how-to-upgrade-your-sky-hd-s-hard-drive-603193. That would explain why Ubuntu and macOS are not picking it up.

It should still show up for your partitioning tool, gparted I think is what ubuntu has, just delete all partitions and make a new one and format it.
Movies on it would be encoded anyway, I would think, so there is no reason to try and make it work.

Does it show up in smartmontools?

Can you see sector 0 in DMDE?

Some of these drives are firmware locked.

I am using a sata to usb adapter. It says:

Generic external (name of sata to usb adapter)

No medium
