hi guys. im about to install my 6700K skylake very soon. and im wondering, duo to all the forums i read that it have been bend by some 3d party coolers, im at this given time using nh-d14 from noctua, i have gotten the new mounting kit for the skylake, but im thinking, is it wise to change it out for the Hyper 212 EVO from coolermaster, it´s approved by coolermaster to not do that kind of damage that might happen via other kind of coolers.
advice ?

To me it would have seemed the responsible thing for Intel to do since they themselves were not supplying the cooler for the CPU, would be to test after market coolers and at least supply a list of approved coolers that would not cause a problem, but I guess that would be in a perfect world.

My concern for the Noctua NH-D14 is not the actual mounting pressure, because according to Intel it is still the specified 50lbs.

My concern is the increased lower pressure on the bottom of the heat spreader when the tower style machine is righted, and the full weight of the Noctua NH-D14 becomes horizontal static load which is increased by gravity.

Some type of tie off strap added from the top of the cooler secured to the case somewhere could be used to support the coolers outer static load alleviating the horizontal load factor of the cooler, and eliminating uneven mounting pressure on the socket itself.

That's what I would do if I already owned a Noctua NH-D14, I surely would not downgrade my cooler.

well iv read a statement from coolermaster, and the EVO is highly recommended for the skylake`s, think im gonna change it out for the EVO, simply cause well as you said the size and weigth og the EVO is 0,5 and the noctua is 1,7 and i only hear praise for the EVO, so i think im gonna feel better with a lighter one, to spare the skylake from pressure :)
