Here's my Skylake build plan for a video editing (+4K), Photoshop, Lightroom computer that I'm ready to pull the trigger on ... but ... being my first build, I really would appreciate a back check from you guys. The plan here is to utilize the Intel 750 SSD in the M.2 adapter as the OS/Programs drive saving the M.2 PCIe slot for when the prices drop a bit more to add a second one. For now the Samsung 850 will be for selected clips and/or RAW files that I'm working and then back to spinning storage drives. For now I'm planning to utilize my existing external Tough Tech USB 3.0 swappable drives (several sets, some raid 1's and raid 0's) till such time as I can add a couple of 4TB drives in case. As listed this build comes in right at 2k plus a smidgen maybe. So thanks for your critique and suggestions in advance ... I'm itching to get going but will hold up to see what you say. Thanks !

Well ... Any thoughts at all on the build. I did discover that the Noctua CPU Cooler needs to be swapped for the NH-U12S and I changed that. I have another concern about installing Win 10 on the Intel 750 as the boot and program drive with this Asus z170 board is not approved by Intel ... yet I've also been told there's no concern with Win 10 & Intel 750 & z170 Asus. Any for sure knowledge on this one?

For your needs I would recommend something more like this:

OK thanks for the input N3rdR4ge, it's much appreciated! Did I say I'm heaviest on Photoshop/Lightroom RAW image processing but also want to do some stock video mostly 4K? So you're thinking the 6 cores will lift the load better than the faster 6700 CPU and won't be noticeably slower in PS stitching, HDR and other effects then? I picked the 2 x 16 memory thinking to add two more later on. On the M.2, I understood that the 950 Samsung isn't out yet ( December I thought) thus the Intel 750 choice ... I'm needing a new machine mines dying and is toooo slow.
Hmm, 8GB on the R9 390 looks like a very good deal at the same price point as the 970 ... but what about Cuda Cores and Adobe being optimized for Nvida and all that, is it sort of a non issue in practical use? And my Noctua choices ... overkill I take it? Not surprising with my greenness in parts picking, I'm way better with lens choices, have a better idea where overkill comes in and what's just luxury vs performance. I do have one more question/decision and I suppose the difference in $ isn't that much, but what does the Win 10 pro vs home edition do for us in this usage ... I've just opted for the Pro because it seemed right. Also scouting for a low end best 2nd monitor for this set up. Already have a decent NEC color correct unit, but want the second one for space. I'm coming off an i7 HP Laptop that was monitor #2 before.
Thanks again for all the input. It's great that you take the time to help us green guys and it is appreciated! Bpete
