Could someone build me a Skylake i5 build (won't overclock) for under £350? I'm still saving up for a graphics card so it isn't required. It should have a 128GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive; also the motherboard doesn't need to be amazing.

Who's up for the challenge?

You could save some money by going with Haswell. It is only about a 10% performance difference.

true but going skylake would be more "future proof" the 10% difference will only grow with time, Haswell is still very rellavent but with a new build, may as well go skylake because of ddr4 ram

True. But we need to know how much he is going to spend overall. Because an i7-4790K with an R9 390 will be better than an i7-6700K with an R9 380.

I just did a quick build on pc part picker and this is the best I could come up with probably lots of room for fine tuning but I just wanted to get a quick build out to start off with.
Any case will do I chose the cheapest compatible case.

Edit: I also forgot to mention that I didnt put in an os incase by some miracle you had one lying around.

Edit 2: just realised I forgot a psu.

i think for gaming he would only need an i5 6500 or i5 6600 maybe k if he wants to OC and get a gtx 970 or 980 if he can afford it, I however would not sacrifice going down to an i3 skylake or not, or any FX series CPU unless he plays alot of 8 core optimized games
