Hi everyone,

I've always told myself that when DDR4 comes out I will build myself a new system, Now that Skylake chipset has released I have the opportunity to do so. I have looked into some parts online and combined a system. However I just wanted to check if everything will work with eachother.

My current system is:
i7 870 @ 2.93 GHz
Stock Intel cooler
Corsair TX650M
8GB Kingston DDR3 1333 MHZ
ASUS P7H55
Point of View GTX 680 2GB
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3
Crucial M4 128GB
Antec VSK-2000

And my plan is to upgrade to the following, I do keep my GPU as it's still strong enough for my needs.

My 'future' system:
i5 6600K
Cooler Master Nepton 240M
Corsair RM750
16GB(2x 8GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2133MHz CL13
ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming
GTX 680 from my previous system
2TB Seagate Barracuda
250GB Samsung EVO 850
Fractal Design Define R5 Black

It also might be possible to use the PSU from my old system, I reckon 650W would be plenty enough for the system.

The system above is the system I have intention to build, I believe everything is plenty enough for the upcoming years. Let me know if I am correct though!

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Nice upgrade. I only would change the motherboard cause AsRock have bad RMA %, so it a bad quality motherboard. I would choise and MSI/ASUS/Gigabyte motherboard for sure...

About the case. This is a perfect case you can buy for an system. I bought it 2 weeks ago and I'm in love with it :)

maybe, just maybe it's worth it to wait for RAM with lower cl, it wont impact you when it's just for gaming tho

appart from that it looks like a good build and a nice upgrade!

also, how much more is the corsair rm750i. the rm750i uses better components, so is of better quality.

Hey,

This was the RAM with the lowest CL I could find, I don't think it would make much impact if I wait for the ones with lower cls as I will use if for gaming and basic work/school. The RM750i cost about €12,- more. It does look better and more up-to-date with the Corsair Link option, Will go with that one. Thanks for the headsup :)

With DX12 . I wouldn't be so fast to buy a 6600k. With Skylake showing to be a great O/Cing CPU . I would wait till jan.2016 . Pick up a Skylake S with GT4 graphics and 125mb of Edram . Use it on a Z170 Motherboard along with DDR4 3600 memory . Than I would O/C the cpu threw the memory. This will destroy a 6700k in all benchmarks gaming related and many other apps. Plus with DX12 that GT4 will work with your NV DGPU

we're talking about ddr4 here, it's still geting better and latencies are dropping. if you look at the 1st couple of dimms and now there has been a drop already

If you're expecting discounts stores rarely discount big ticket items like CPUs, motherboards and high end cases and PSUs.

Depending on your budget I would probably just buy everything new. You can reuse your hard drives and any GPUs you might have.

Try this - I chose NZXT's awesome looking Noctis 450 over the Define R5:
