skylake update-donating old CPU/MB/RAM to my brother

Looking for a little input on a upcoming Skylake upgrade/swap for my rig (specs in sig).
The plan is to move from the current Devils Canyon i5 to a Skylake i7 and donate the current CPU/MB/RAM to my brother, whos ancient Q6600 system is really struggling.

The parts in mind:
MB https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-z170-a-pro-intel-z170-socket-1151-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-312-ms.html

CPU: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/intel-core-i7-6700k-4.0ghz-skylake-socket-lga1151-processor-retail-cp-581-in.html

Memory: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team-group-dark-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-pc4-24000c16-3000mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-tdked416g3000hc16ad-my-083-tg.html

Any suggested improvements (or cost savings-I'm not keeling THAT generous) will be welcome, but be aware I'm in the UK, so no Newegg links, please. 😉
I'm not too bothered about overclocking but the 'K' chip is only <>£30 more than the locked one and the 'Z' MB has more features than 'B' or 'H' series 'boards for not much more cash.

Can't argue with any of that, the motherboard is brilliant for the price, the RAM is ridiculous for the price and I guess you're going for an all black build? All looks good with an R9 Nano and you have a decent PSU... and the same monitor as me :)

If it's purely for gaming, you won't really see much difference between the ram speed.
Most motherboards today are built quite well. Note if you want a Z170 motherboard that support SLI, you would need to look at £100+ models.

@ Suztera:
Yes, it's mainly a gaming rig, but I also do some rendering, hence the i7 over the <>£100 cheaper i5 6600K.

Actually, the RAM you linked is both slower and more expensive, but I get your point.

@ Anti-duck, good display isn't it? MORE SPEED NUMBER ONE! 😉

Personally I would get the highest RAM speed I could for future DirectX 12 and Vulkan games, RAM speed has been shown to make an impressive difference in AoTS -

Obviously 2666 vs. 3000 isn't going to be that drastic, but still an increase.

It depends. That test is 5 months old and needs an update but generally the gpu will be doing most of the work.

To the OP, yes that ram from overclockers is shown to be cheaper not including delivery unless you got their free delivery service or live close to their store.

Well for the sake of £3 for next day delivery, even if OP can't physically go and pick the RAM up, I would opt for faster RAM.

A developer of AoTS himself has said that RAM speed will make a very big difference.

@ Suztera: The odd tenner here and there isn't going to be a deal breaker, but I DO appreciate your reply, mate.

None of the parts linked are carved into stone, and I'll be looking for the best deals come 'proceed to checkout', I'll be factoring shipping as well, by getting everything from one source I'll pay one shipping charge, and get everything in one package, on one delivery date, but exactly WHO gets the order remains to be seen...

Still thinking of a i5 6600K over the i7, though, there's close to a £100 saving and I'm a Capricorn, so I'm torn between my desire for something better and my natural resistance to spending money. 😉

Alright, pulled the trigger on:

MB/CPU: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-z170-gaming-k4-intel-z170-s1151-ddr4-satae-m2-atx-motherboard-with-intel-core-i7-6700-34ghz-h

Memory: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb-(2x8gb)-corsair-ddr4-vengeance-lpx-red-pc4-24000-(3000)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-15-17-17-35-xmp-

Yep, I know the CPU isn't a 'K' and the memory is a little more than the parts I linked, I'm not too worried about the future OC but want the better features of a 'Z' motherboard and the higher memory cost is offset by me only paying one shipping charge. As with everything, it's all swings and roundabouts; What you gain on one, you lose on the other.

Thanks for the input, guys, let's hope my brother appreciates the upgrade to HIS setup.
