skylake upgrade(i need your opinion)

i currently have a intel core 2 quad q9550 @3.4ghz with an asus p5p41t-le with 6gb ram gtx 660 cooler master hyper t4

and a friend of mine is getting an new motherboard, and offered me his old motherboard witch is a msi Z170-A pro for $60 dollars. Witch is a great deal considering its about $110 brad new. He has only had the board for a few months and decided that he wanted to sli so had to get a new motherboard. So my question now is, should i upgrade to an i3-6100 or the i5-6600k and then later upgrade to the i7-6700k(for multitasking like twitch streaming with tree two 1080p monitors)and also get a 8gb stick of ddr4 so i can easily upgrade in the future.Or my other friend is offering me a i7-3770k and an ASRock Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 with 16gb ddr3 and a noctua cooler for $400

i dont know what to do

Should i upgrade to the i3 to save money since i will eventually upgrade to the i7, although its way better than the core 2 quad q9550?

Should i go with the i5-6600k so i can start doing light streaming?

Or should i just roll with the q9550 for like 5 months and go straight for the i7


pls dont tell me to get anything else i simply want your thoughts on the options above

Roll with your Q9550 and then just do the one upgrade to the i7. Unless your system is on fire, or you absolutely can not wait, there's no sense in jumping the gun for lower quality gear and the higher cost of multiple cpu purcheses. Also come Nov we'll get Black Friday sales and you may not have to wait the 5 months. The i3 6100 will match or beat your overclocked Q9550 in multithreaded scenarios, and slaughter it in things that are less threaded - I upgraded my wife's PC from a Q6600 @ 3.2 to a Haswell i3, and found it to be a huge upgrade in most tasks.

Given that you have a "Z" board, a "K" CPU makes some sense, but whether the i5 will work for you will depend on what you do with it. An overclocked 6600K is a beastly CPU.

Honestly, that 3770k isn't a bad deal at all. Still very competitive with Haswell/Skylake i7's and would be excellent for what you'd use it for.

Id say go for then full setup you really want, even if it means waiting a bit. If you want the 6700k, save and get it! I've been therr, we all have, and it's always more pleasing to end up with what you want

i really want to play games like gta 5 and fallout 4 but at the moment my cpu is bottle necking me hard so im thinking about going with the i3-6100 for now and then selling it to my brother later and put that money towards the i7-6700k
