With all the hype and talk on the Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors, along with the X299 Motherboards to release alongside the new CPU's, I have one question that I can't seem to find even a ballpark answer to.

How much do you think the Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X Processors will cost? I'm assuming Skylake-X will be the much better CPU's due to more cores, Kaby Lake-X is looking to be a joke unless they have some serious overclocking capability.

But, will these CPU's likely be under $1000?

Also, unrelated question, does anyone know how much the i7 5930k cost on release?

Solution
Not sure what pricing will do, there aren't any 4c cpu's for x99 to my knowledge (unless referring to low end xeons). The i7's start with 6c/12t cpu's and with broadwell-e moved to 10c/20t as the top end. Prices may or may not react to amd. Some of the cpu's will likely be under $1000, haswell and broadwell-e were. The 5820k, 5930k, 6800k and 6850k 6c/12t varieties were well under $1000.

If referring to the top end x versions, they may drop a little but chances are will hover around $1000+. The proposed skylake-x 12c/24t is liable to be around $1500. Kaby lake-x I believe are the mainstream desktop chips, so 16 pci lanes rather than 44 of skylake-x and dual channel memory vs quad of the enthusiast platform. If kaby lake-x are the...

I think its going to directly mimic the X79 and X99 platforms. So $400 for 4c, $600 for 6c, $1000 for 8c and probably $1500 for 12c. The i7 5930k was $583 at release, still about the same price.

Only if AMD comes out with another set of Ryzen to shake things up will the prices be lower. My guess is Intel isn't going to lower the prices since Ryzen has so many issues out the gate, it will take all of 2017 to fix them.

Am I okay to buy G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB Ram?
What I mean by this is, will this RAM be compatible with the new MOBO and CPU? Or should I wait to find out for sure? (Very new to this stuff)

It is going to be DDR4 for sure. They data sheets are already out and it looks like base speeds is 2666 for dual channel and 2400 for quad. As long as you buy memory 2400 and faster you will be fine. The XMP profiles may be updated but that isn't a big deal, older ones work on new platforms.

I don't see memory getting better than they are right now (for a while), Corsair 2400@CL10 is really good, so is GSKILL 3200@CL14

If kaby lake-x are the mainstream chips (ie 6700k, 7700k etc) then they'll definitely be below $1000 as they've always been. More like $350ish.

As with anything rumored and no in hand hardware, speculation is just that. Best to wait until there's a part in hand, a price attached to it and benchmarks on it before jumping on decisions.

Articles from sources like anandtech discussing the 5930k suggested it would be released at $583 back in late August of 2014. Intel's ark suggests recommended retail is $583-594. Pcpartpicker has the 5930k listed for $554 + tax/shipping all the way up to $613 from newegg. All are around in line with one another and the current pricing being a bit on the high side is normal for an older intel cpu with limited supply and having been released for a few years. Not quite eol but enthusiast chips tend to have a longer 'lifespan' than mainstream.

Sweet thank you for that, went ahead and ordered the G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200 RAM as it was on sale for a great deal at 280$ and was very hesitant about buying it due to the release of Skylake-X and X299 was worried the RAM wouldn't be compatible so thank you for that confirmation!
