Skype is installed but not logging in.

I have Skype installed on my acer laptop, but when I go to sign in, it takes about 5mins, and then tells me 'skype cannot connect. Get help fixing this problem' When I click on the 'get help' button, it tells me to contact the network administrator or to try again.
I've tried this many times! Can you please help me?

Can you connect to the internet and browse around with Windows Internet Explorer?

Try running as administrator, or allowing Skype in your firewall. I recall having these problems before, and one of those two fixed it. If not then I apologize for having wasted time.
