Skyrim Doesn't Run Above Minimum Settings?

Hello, Lads and Ladies of Tom's Hardware

Had this problem since I got it at its release, but after updating my PC recently, it's still closing the program if I use default Medium/High/Ultra settings.

Here are my specs:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) 750 @ 2.67GHz 2.66Ghz
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD6870
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate (32 Bit) [Fully Updated]
RAM: 8GB

If you can possibly help work out this conundrum, I'd be grateful, and will provide any additional information you require from me.

Also, please don't laugh at me because I -still- run Vista. Had a hard enough time adjusting to it after leaving my beautiful Windows XP behind!

Skyrim crashing can be caused by many different issues and you will find many knowledgeable people there.

why do you have 8gb ram with vista 32bit that can only address 4gb total? I hope you are at least running a ramdisk with the wasted 4gb.

Oddly enough, I also play War of the Roses for which I need the 8GB of RAM. Hence the 8GB, not 4GB. (I tried with 4GB, it just conked out ¬_¬)

Come to think of it, there were several issues I sorted out at the same time though, so I'm not sure what the problem with War of the Roses was. It works now though.

Been meaning to play war of the Roses, is the gameplay fun? Also if you could relate it to one other game, what would it be?

Mm. It does its best at realism. The closest comparison I know of is 'Mount and Blade'. It's more mechanically challenging than Chivalry as well.
