Skyrim lags on good laptop.

I have an MSI gt60 and here are my specs

CPU: 2.3 GHz Core i7-3610QM
VGA: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M with 3gb of video space
RAM: 12gb
HDD: 1TB/ and 720

If you need more I can give it. But the thing is I lag crazily on skyrim. Fraps says I hover around 8 fps. I play on high with low shadows and I dont understand why I lag. In my opinion this shouldnt lag this bad. I have updated my nvidia drivers aswell. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

does it lag on medium or low settings? Also check what temps you are getting with CPUID HWMonitor.

since you have an i7-3610QM so it has an Intels graphics 4000, i guess if that available you need to switch from power saver options or from the driver to the Nvidia graphics card, that will fix your problem, other than that you have to update drivers or having some serious problems with hardware (DOA).
