Hey everyone,

I have been playing Skyrim for about 6 months now and without any problems (apart from the occasional crash which I have learned is common).

I just went on a trip for 3 weeks and got back and was eager to pick up where I left off in the game. But when I try to launch Skyrim (after clicking PLAY) it now says:

"Failed to initialize renderer. Your display doesn't support the selected resolution. Please set a different resolution in Skyrims Launcher under "display settings". "

Which is weird because my computer hasn't been used since I left and certainly nothing has changed on it. I'm also uncertain where it is I'm supposed to be looking, when I open the launch menu I do not have this 'display settings' as far as I can see :-(

Can anyone help me out on this one? I'm sort of a tech noob so if you could keep it simple if possible, I would be most grateful ;-)

Cheers!

Joost

PS I also tried launching it in windowed mode, which does work, although the window in which is launches is tiny and I cannot seem to enlarge it :-( but then I assume my system specs should not be the problem right?

Start the launcher, there's a Settings option under "Play"

On the off hand, what happened was probably the game updated when you launched Steam, and now it wants you to have latest GPU drivers.

How did you get into windowed mode ? -- the selections to choose the display resolution is on the same page that the windowed mode selection is on so if you can access windowed mode you should be able to select a different resolution ! ( most likely you either changed your video card driver since the last time you played or the game reset itself again due to STEAM running an update - so you need to reselect a resolution that your display supports.
