A few days ago I could play skyrim @ ultra while having google chrome up at 60fps or more. Now I get about 10 fps with no mods and ultra. I don't know how this happened, but it needs fixing. Hasn't happened with any other games, I run CS:GO at 100-300fps at ultra. I've reinstalled 2 times

CPU: Intel i3 4150 (stock clock, stock cooler)
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 280
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 1866mhz (2x4gb)

You said you are using no mods, but do you use the Nexus mod manager to launch it? Also if you open up start manager and click on performance at idle what is the ram and cpu usage? Also how many processes are running in the background...

I have the latest drivers, don't have power options and if I did it wouldn't make a difference because other games work fine

Accidently chose you as the best solution, oops. I'm using steam to launch it and nothing is running in the background. Can't find out performance because i'm reinstalling it

Just to define the problem more, I would go and try and run Skyrim using the Nexus mod manager from here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/modmanager/? with the Skyrim script extender installed, then launch Skyrim using the script extender.

Didn't work

No, CS:GO is laggy now as well

It turns out that the lag was because my HDMI cable was plugged into my motherboard instead of my graphics card. I still don't understand why that made me lag, but I have no lag again

ohh right, well glad it is fixed now 😀
