Slave hard disk problem

Hi, can I recover my file with another hard drive without OS? I plugged 2 Hard drives, 1 is for the System drive and the other one is the slave drive that is requesting to format. now, How can I recover my slave drive? when I check the size of my slave disk, it shows the total size free disk, no single MB or GB occupied. HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS? THANK YOU MY FRIEND

Would you please post a screenshot of what you see in Disk Management about the problematic drive (you can use imgur.com to upload the image)? Here's how to open it: How to access Disk Management in Windows to manage hard drives.

You should make sure that the secondary drive is properly connected. You could also try it out with a different port and cables, to see if the same thing happens. If that doesn't prove useful, you could try accessing your data via data recovery software. Hi! Boogieman_WD,

I checked the size using OS Installer just to check if the hard drive is damage but it shows the total size free disk no single MB or GB occupied, I checked also in CMD and it replies need to format drive, I checked also in disk management and it shows the total size free disk. also in safe mode, need to format.. What I need my friend is do you try this case? to recover files? using any recovery applications?

Sorry for not being able to reply right away.

Basically you should try out the solutions offered in my first post. The screenshot I've mentioned of Disk Management might also prove useful. If you decide to go with the data recovery programs I've suggested, start with the ones form the Tom's Hardware thread.
If there's a problem with the partition (this is why I wanted to check out the screenshot) you could also try accessing the drive via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD (this is basically a freeware, bootable, portable version of Linux), to see if it recognizes the HDD properly and if you can get to your files and back them up. Here's how to make a bootable flash drive: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows and where to download Ubuntu from: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop. Once you've created the bootable flash drive with Ubuntu, all you need in order to boot with it, is to make the flash drive the first booting device from the BIOS/UEFI's boor priority settings.
