Sleep button in windows 7 shuts power off producing an illegal shutdown.

Sleep button in windows 7 shuts power off producing an illegal shutdown. If I boot from another drive with the same version of windows the sleep button does exactly what it should. Does anyone know the answer ?

Hello,
Try this ...
press start button then Type in power options, there is an option to change what the power buttons do. check these first.

Thanks but I have already tried that. I have been through all the advanced settings too, but still no luck.
