Sleep mode issue (screen does not turn back on but sound comes from computer)

Hey all.

So I have this odd problem that just seemed to have sprung up more frequently lately on this new system.

When the computers goes to sleep, sometimes the screen does not come back on. I have tried the screen (on/off) with no changes. While when I press a key the system does make a sound and reacts. It seems to be an issue with my 3d card perhaps, but I'm not sure what to do about it. My 3D card is an R9 270x gigabyte 2gb.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem a while back. When I locked my computer and it fell asleep, I'd get back to it and have to hard reboot. I did some research and found that it happens apparently because windows 8 sometimes has issues with the graphics drivers when waking up from sleep.
I ended up just turning off the sleep settings so that my computer never fell asleep on it's own. If I want it to sleep I tell it to sleep. Not the best solution but it works for me.
