Sleep Mode?

When I first got my new puter set up, AMD-500 K7M, Seagate 6.4GB, 128M RAM, I decided to try out the Sleep mode. It shut down alright but wouldn't come back up. So I rebooted and it came up with "Non system disk error"! Being experienced I knew that was a very bad sign... Put in a boot disk and looked at the C:. Totally trashed! I mean almost everything was gone except the windows directory which was pretty much empty! Needless to say, I haven't tried it since. However I'd like to use it. I just did a ghost of a fresh install of all my essential stuff, but still am nervous to try it again. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with Asus K7V but after uninstalling Adaptec's DirectCD it slept nice and quiet and most important of all it woke up! Try looking around your programs and see which ones are the one which made your computer sleep restlessly... then back up and try sleeping again.

I use winME with my Abit AX3Spro. 'Suspend to hard drive' works OK but when i try suspend to RAM it begins to close and then quickly opens to tell me that the adaptec SCSI controller (for my CDRW) will not allow it to 'sleep'. Suffice to say certain stuff, particulary adaptec software, is a problem.
