Is it normal that the 2. GPU you have in SLI will get alot hotter than the 1. ?

I did this test:

I set 1. card to not use fan if under 50C
- It stayed on 45C with no problem.

I set 2. card to not use fan if under 50C, the same as 1. card.
If it went over 50C the fan would begin to spin up to 30%
But the card just got hotter and hotter up to 75C where the fan auto kicked in and ran at 100%

I got 2. GTX 970, ASUS STRIX

Yeah, I can confirm that. I have 2 GTX780 running in sli and the top one gets waaay hotter. These problems are way greater when you have the cards sanwiched together. Putting it into another PCI-E slot may or may not be the option for you, because not all slots are wired for SLI, but if your mobo can manage that, than do so. You will notice a great improvement with just 1 slot offset compared to 0. If you motherboard doesn't support this kind of solution, you may try what I did: buy a PCI-E riser cable and offset the card using that. Keep in mind tho, that the card may not actually fit into a designated place and you may have to use some ghetto solution of anchoring the card down. Also, if you have a rigid SLI, bridge, you would have to get a longer flexible one for this.
