SLI 970's for a 144 hz monitor to be worth it?

I've been thinking about getting a 144hz monitor and some people have said to really take advantage of it on some top notch games I'd need to get another 970.. any truth to that statement?

I think that 1 970 will be able to hit the 144MHz. Do you already have a 970 or will you have to 2 of them. If thats the case a 980 will be the best option and the cheaper one too. 1 980 is 550-600 while the 2 970s will be around 700

well, you cant take advantage of the 144hz if your rig cant even hit >60 (closest to 144 as possible)
but if you can hit around 100 you should notice it, 144 would be ideal.

it also depends on the game. you might need sli, maybe not. or just lower the settings a bit, that is what i do for bf4

I am got 2 970's for 1440p at 144Hz, so YMMV, but for 1 single 1080p, a 980 would be the max of what I'd go for, though ideally 1 970 (as per above, as long as you can get into 80~100fps, it'll make a big difference).

I already have one 970. Might just get the monitor and see how it is then add another if need be.

then going sli is one solution. or just get above 100hz, the difference is obvious compared to 60hz

i just lower the settings since i cannot buy another gpu
