My computer
Gigabyte z97x - UD3H
I7-4790k 4.8Ghz
H100i v2
16gb PNY 1886
EVGA 980 ti hybrid
PNY 120 gb ssd
PNY 240 gb ssd
3tb western digital black
850 watt EVGA supernova bronze

I used to have an R9 280x crossfire rig and had terrible micro stuttering. Granted this was paired with an FX 8350 and only a 60hz monitor.

980 ti hybrid cards are going for 425.00$ used on Amazon. I currently have a 1440p 144hz monitor with gsync. My single card runs games from 80 to 100 fps.

I am nervous of pulling the trigger on a second card due to past experiences with micro stuttering.
Will my monitor I currently have help solve that issue? Does SLI have as bad micro stuttering? At this point, would you recommend SLI 980 ti's, or should I wait for a 1080 ti?
In the future I may play at 4K but currently am not as it will be a while until I start.

I would wait for the 1080 ti because there will be less micro stuttering and it will be faster, cheaper, quieter, cooler and there will be more upgradability in the future, you also won't need an insane power supply to run the 980's.

If you were to upgrade to 2 1080 ti's, they have the high bandwidth SLI bridges which would mean less micro stuttering.

Right now i already have a 980 ti. It is also the hybrid variant so cooling is not an issue. I know 980 ti's in SLI will murder my 1440p 144hz monitor. I just worry that I will be plagued by micro stuttering like I did in the past with amd cards. I honestly don't know if SLI is better than crossfire. My guess would be that it is but I am not sure.
