can i SLI my EVGA 9800GTX+ with a GTS 250? i would get another 9800gtx+ but from what i hear the gts 250 is better and it is cheaper
GTS 250-$130
9800GTX+ -$140
i know its only $10 but savings is savings and if the gts 250 is better maybe the SLI will be better. i could be wrong and the 9800GTX+ might just bog down the GTS 250 but thats why i'm asking.

They are the same card, just different names. I have wondered about this too...I would think you can, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I would definately like to try it but u never know what kind of restrictions nvidia has in the drivers. I wish they had a web page where u put in the two cards and it says yes or no

yup i am sure for 100% that u can sli a 9800gtx+ and a gts 250 because they contain the same drivers as much as i know and the gts 250 is just a little bit shorter and has a higher clock and a different name only

As I read the article from cpu3d, a few things popped into mind. Your 9800 GTX+ isn't the same brand as the one they used, so it might not work. As such, you're venturing into the unknown. Are you willing to loose your present card? Keep in mind that if you flash the card's BIOS like that, you throw any warranty out the window. Personally, I wouldn't make the gamble just to save $10 as its too risky and blows EVGA's guarantee, but to each his own.

There are pretty different, the 250 is 55nm and only uses 1 6 pin, not to mention significantly shorter.

The 9800 GTX+ was made using the 55nm process and only needs 1 pin too...board length doesn't matter.

note my cpu score actually beat the reference PC which is an overclocked i7!
