sli and memory oc

i've been told that in using sli your only utilizing the memory from one gpu. im wondering if thats the case would overclocking the second gpus memory clock would be useless or will it show some type of benefit.

you use both, but they are both full of the same stuff, hence 2 x 2GB cards = 2Gb of memory and not 4GB.
