Is it possible to crossfire between these two cards? Would there be a performance hit given that they aren't the same GPU? Would there be any driver mods I would have to do manually? Thanks :)

Solution
You referred to both SLI and crossfire, so just to clarify, crossfire is for AMD cards, and SLI is for nVidia cards. Basically the same thing, just a different name for the different brands.

In the case of nVidia and SLI, it must be the same GPU in order for you to be able to pair them up. So you can not SLI with a 970 and a 980 unfortunately. It must be two 970s or two 980s paired together.

Thanks for such a speedy reply. I know the difference between SLI and Crossfire, I wasn't thinking. I'm asking because I crossfired between my Radeon HD 7750 and 7790 for a while on my older rig, and wanted to know if this was possible using nVidia's hardware. Thanks :)
