Will a new HB Bridge "function" with a pair of identical GTX970 cards? The Nvidia site says they are only compatible with the 10x series cards but I want to clarify if that means they will not work at all or just that they don't offer any improvement over a single soft bridge.

I'm asking because I may be upgrading eventually and I will go ahead and get a HB bridge for the future as long as it will work ok w/my 970's for now.

Solution
From nVidia site.

"These advanced bridges are designed for GeForce GTX cards with SLI support (GeForce GTX 770, GTX 780, GTX 780 Ti, GTX 970, GTX 980, GTX 980 Ti, GTX 1070, GTX 1080 and GTX TITAN series). The SLI Bridge LED is supported on NVIDIA reference designs. The LED Visualizer requires GeForce Experience™ version 1.7 or higher."

It should work according to nVidia.

Solution
I had actually used the Gigabyte one that came with my 1080's with my G1 970's. It looked cool and yes it worked fine. I think it may have added a couple of FPS but that was about it. Had it like that for about a year until I upgraded to my 1080TI on that rig.
