I have a GTX 750 in my system right now, I'd like to increase my performance but don't want to replace this because it is fairly new. Is it possible to SLI this 750 with a 970? If not, would it be worth the 150$ to get another 750 and SLI them or just leave this? Thanks

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant to say that the 750 and 750 Ti simply cannot connect to any other card. Both of those cards do not have SLI connectors, so you cannot run two 750's in SLI or two 750 Ti's in SLI.
No. And Sli 750s will not come close to a single GTX 970. Sli only works with identical GPUs. Get a GTX 970 and use the 750 as a PhysX card if you just want to keep the 750.

sell the 750 and get a 960 or 970. you can only sli the same series of card. using it for PhysX is a bit of a waste, you can grab a much cheaper card for PhysX since that doesn't need anything that powerful, and the 750 will only depreciate, its value is now.

Who said they did? I specifically said you need identical GPUs. The 750 and 750 Ti are not identical.
