SLI not working

I've had a gtx 980 for some time now, and I just got a second one from my friend. I installed it into my computer and turned it on. in nvidia control panel it reconizes that i have 2 cards in but it doesn't show the sli settings. pls help

Yes, and in nvidia control panel there is a bubble connecting them that says PhysX, i dont know what that means, and i'm prettty sure the sli cable is connected all the way, i just checked

Try reinstalling the graphics driver. If it still doesn't see the SLI configuration, remove the drivers and start fresh. You can also try re-seating the SLI connector or try the second set of connectors.

Could also be a broken sli bridge connector thing that was my problem 5 years back, went through two of them and third one worked. it was the flimsy ones that didnt work for me

do you think i need a new one? if so do you have any reccomendations for a 120mm or longer sli cable?

in the thread it says that the software may have a virus in it, I'm not taking any risks

It most certainly does not say it might have a virus. It says false positive
