Question SLI not working

I have double Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 and a Gigabyte AORUS 2Way SLI bridge. Using Windows 10 64 bit. Both of the cards are visible in device manager and NVidia control panel, SLI bridge has lights on. But SLI settings do not appear. I found that one of the cards is using bus PCI-E x16 gen3 and the other PCI-E x4 gen2. Does that matter? How can I fix this to use SLI? Do I need to somehow change it to x8-x8? Help, please.

SLI needs a minimum of PCIe x8 per card, so no that won't work. If your 2nd PCIe lane is 2.0 x4, that means they're coming from the motherboard chipset rather than the CPU. Only certain motherboards allow splitting the x16 lanes from the CPU into x8/x8, and will list SLI support in the mobo specs.
