SLI or one recently released card?

Hi, I'm trying to work out if it's worth saving a little bit of money by just buying another 760 and going SLI or just jumping over to a single 970. I'm thinking the SLI for money reasons but if it's better in the long run might grab the 970.

Which would be worth it?

Single GTX 970 all day every day.

The power efficiency of the GTX 970 is fantastic also. Also you will find quite a lot of games are optimized to run with multiple GPU setups so its always best to go with a single card if possible.
Both are equal so it's a personal preference.

if i'm correct two gtx overclocked 760s will still be a tad faster than a single 970 so raw performance wise they will be best.
But SLi can have issues so one gtx 970 might be better.

Here's what i'd do, i would see if i could sell that gtx 760 for a high price, but if not then just SLI it.

In the long run, it's always better to pick a single strong card than SLI two weak or 'not-so-strong' ones. I'd go for the single 970 without thinking twice, you might be able to sell your current 760 for a decent price today - which is one of the reasons you should consider the single card over the SLI, since if you went 2x760 and eventually were to sell them, their prices would be waaay down the value you initially paid for. This is kinda obvious, and even if you're not looking forward to sell or trade them, it would be best to take the single 970.

And if you have the 2GB 760, beware that VRAM in SLI does NOT combine between cards. If you have 2 2GB cards in SLI, you STILL GOT 2GB of VRAM. The single 970, in the other hand, has 4GB - and consumes less energy as well.

Cheers guys for the advice guys. i'll be going for the 970, didn't realize two 2gb card still stick to 2gb. Also gives me an excuse to down size in case. My BitFenix Colossus is just taking up too much space, which i kinda regret buying now.
