[SOLVED] SLI or upgrade

Hello, i just had a quick question. right now i have a ryzen 5 1600X and a gtx 1070, 16gb ram yadda yadda yadda. I was just wondering if i should add a 1070 in SLI or buy a 2080 or something and sell my 1070 which one is more worth it thanks

Support for multi-GPU set ups are dying fast. You'd be better off with a single card set up. That said, I'd upgrade your processor before upgrading your graphics.

I agree with Wolfshadw.

Support for multi-GPU setups is quickly dying and developers are not implementing SLI support into 99.9% of modern games. So adding another 1070 is basically a waste.

You would see a big bump from a 2080, but at resolutions at 1080p or less the CPU may become a limitation. 1st generation ryzen is great, but 3rd generaion performs much better and may benefit you.

What is the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor?

my resolution is 1080p right now and 144 refresh rate. and i've been debating between cpu and gpu honestly. i was considering GPU for future monitor upgrade but then who knows when im actually going to do that cuz i got 2 more years of school lol.

Yea, for 1080p 144hz you will want to upgrade CPU first.

I would update your bios to the latest version and upgrade to a ryzen 5 3600 for $195.

only 3600? why not a 3800x come on go big or go home LMAO. i put my cpu and motherboard up for sale, if someone buys it, i'll upgrade. if no one wants it, i won't upgrade. simple lol.

If you have the budget you may be able to upgrade GPU and CPU a bit each, rather than one or the other.

The 3800x is very good, but I just suggested the 3600 due to the better 1t performance.

Yes.

The 6 cores and 12 threads of the 1600x is great, its just the single-threaded performance is not great.

The 3600 solves the single-threaded performance and still has the cores to match.

The 3800x has even better single-threaded performance and more cores.

yeah if i have 6 core right now, i don't want to upgrade to a better 6 core lol, may as well go to the 8 core. just my logic. and cool 3800X it is if i can sell my old stuff
